Formed in 1963 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, the Animals were a tough, blues-aligned British band. Led by Eric Burdon, they broke worldwide with 1964’s “House of the Rising Sun” and hits like “We Gotta Get Out of This Place.” Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
