The Animals and Geno Washington

The Animals, formed in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in 1963, gained fame for their raw blues style. Hits like "House of the Rising Sun" and "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" showcased their energy and intensity. Led by Eric Burdon, the band embraced psychedelia with songs like "Sky Pilot." They collaborated with Giorgio Gomelsky and Mickie Most and saw various lineup changes. Inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, they influenced rock with their uncompromising sound and spirit. Their legacy includes the famous track "We Gotta Get Out of This Place."

Born in Indiana, soul singer Geno Washington led the British Ram Jam Band in the '60s with hits like "Water" and "Hi-Hi Hazel." Known for electrifying live shows, he influenced Dexys Midnight Runners’ #1 tribute "Geno."
