The Blades, an Irish new wave and power pop band from Ringsend, Dublin, formed in 1977. Known for their dynamic blend of punk, pop, and soul, they gained acclaim for songs like "Hot For You," "Ghost of a Chance," and "Downmarket." Paul Cleary was voted best Irish songwriter. Their album "Modernised" released in 2016. They were considered a formidable live act and played residency with U2.
