Born in the UK, Ian Astbury formed the Cult, a band that merged gothic post-punk with hard rock. Known for hits like "She Sells Sanctuary," their style channels the Doors, Led Zeppelin, and AC/DC. They peaked with 1989’s "Sonic Temple." Disbanded in 1995, reunited in 2001.
