Silversun Pickups, an LA band with Brian Aubert, Nikki Monninger, Christopher Guanlao, and Joe Lester, are famed for their sonic density. Their sixth album, *Physical Thrills* (2022), produced by Butch Vig, showcases new elements like dream shanties and horror sounds, marking a rejuvenated style.
The Flaming Lips, formed in 1983 in Oklahoma City, are acclaimed for their psychedelic, experimental alternative rock. Known for hits like "She Don't Use Jelly," they gained fame in the '90s and won a Grammy for 2002's "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots." Collaborations include Miley Cyrus and Kacey Musgraves. Notable albums are "The Soft Bulletin" and "American Head," showcasing their unique sound and emotional depth.
Formed by Tim DeLaughter, The Polyphonic Spree, hails from heartbreak. Known for "Light & Day/Reach for the Sun," the band's robed ensemble has performed at Nobel Concert, worked with Bowie, and influenced pop culture since 2000.
Glasgow's indie pop band Belle and Sebastian, formed in 1994, are known for their '60s-inspired chamber pop and twee melodies. Their debut, "Tigermilk," was a cult hit, leading to classics like "If You're Feeling Sinister." They continued to evolve, achieving critical acclaim with albums like "The Life Pursuit" and singles like "I'm a Cuckoo."
