Formed in Kansas City in 1995, The Get Up Kids became key second-wave emo with punk-driven energy. Albums include Four Minute Mile (1997) and acclaimed Something to Write Home About (1999). They split in 2005, reunited in 2009, and released Problems (2019).

Arizona indie pop band The Format, led by Nate Ruess and Sam Means, returned after nearly two decades with the album Boycott Heaven, made with producer Brendan O’Brien and drummer Matt Chamberlain, and the Bandcamp charity single “The Bar is Set So Low.”
