The Orb and Ozric Tentacles

Formed at Stonehenge in 1983, UK band Ozric Tentacles are psychedelic festival staples led by multi-instrumentalist Ed Wynne. Blending prog rock and dance, they released the 1993 top-ten UK album Jurassic Shift and the single Sploosh! after building a massive 1980s cassette fanbase.

The Orb are pioneers of ambient house, founded in England by Dr. Alex Paterson. Blending slowed Chicago house rhythms with ambient synth work and obscure vocal loops, they achieved breakthrough success with their 1991 debut album Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld and the number one U.K. album U.F.Orb. Led by Paterson through numerous lineup shifts and high-profile collaborations, the group became renowned for blending electronic music with innovative live performance and spacious soundscapes.
