Strafe is Brooklyn native producer Steve Standard, best known for the minimal electro classic "Set It Off" (1984, Jus Born). It broke in NYC clubs with support from DJs like Danny Krivit; Standard later re-recorded it, and it’s widely sampled.

C+C Music Factory

C+C Music Factory, formed in 1989 in New York City by David Cole and Robert Clivillés, pioneered an infectious blend of house, hip hop, and pop. Known for hits like "Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)," they earned 35 awards, including five American Music Awards. Their influential sound featured vocalists such as Freedom Williams and Martha Wash.

Planet Patrol

Planet Patrol, originating from Boston, Massachusetts, pioneered electro funk and hip-hop. Formed by Arthur Baker and John Robie, the group is renowned for fusing electro beats with soulful vocals. Their 1983 self-titled album featured popular songs like "Play at Your Own Risk" and "Cheap Thrills." "Play at Your Own Risk" is widely recognized as an anthem for street dancers and influenced the freestyle music scene.
