He won a BRITs Critics' Choice Award and an Ivor Novello Award. In 2025, he released his seventh studio album, "A Wonderful Life," and a new single "Over" in 2026. He is currently touring internationally.

Popular songs include "ur so pretty," "Petals on the Moon," and "2515." Their EPs are "How Can I Pretend?" and "Isotope." William Gao is also known for his role in Netflix's "Heartstopper."
