Type O Negative, originating from Brooklyn, New York, in 1989, pioneered gothic and doom metal. Known as "the Drab Four," their music explored themes of romance, depression, and death, infused with dark humor. Popular songs include "Black No. 1" and "Christian Woman." Albums like "Bloody Kisses" achieved platinum status, and "October Rust" went gold. The band's unique sound and Peter Steele's deep vocals left a lasting legacy.
