Wayne Shorters rise to fame as one of the greatest jazz musicians/composers started at Birdland as a member of Art Blakeys Jazz Messengers.
For our birthday tribute, Wayne Escoferry (tenor sax), Helen Sung (piano), Lonnie Plaxico (bass), and Billy Kilson (drums), will perform:
From the Blakey years, performances will include Armageddon, Footprints, Infant Eyes, Tom Thumb, and Yes and No. From Shorters Blue Note Records years, as well as Pinnochio from his tenure with Miles Davis's second quintet.
