Cajun rebel Zachary Richard, born in Louisiana, fuses Cajun, zydeco, rock, and blues. Key in Cajun music revival, he collaborated with Michael Doucet and earned gold records in Canada. Known for French-language activism, he founded Action Cadienne and received France's Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et Lettres. Acclaimed albums include Cap Enragé and Lumière Dans le Noir. He’s a celebrated poet and documentary producer, winning awards for Against the Tide and other works. Collaborated in music with Celine Dion and is praised for bicultural, bilingual themes.

Event Announcement

For the second year in a row, we have the distinct pleasure of hosting one of Louisiana's true national treasures, Mr. Zachary Richard. After an incredible 50 plus year career including accolades and honors that are too many to count, Zachary doesn't play many shows these days. He recently published his first novel, Les Rafales du carme, the first French language major work of fiction by a Louisiana author since 1894. He has been busy touring the world in support of that!

Performance Details

But he must have enjoyed himself at Chickie Wah Wah last year because he is coming back for more. If you missed that show, it was rowdy and fun and at times just stunningly beautiful. He captivated the entire room. We are honored and simply nothing but thankful to have the opportunity to have Zachary Richard perform for us on Sunday May 4th at 8pm. I couldn't imagine a better way to close out your festival weekend.
