District of Columbia is a busy hub of musical activity, with countless live shows around the year. Jazz had a lot of importance in the district during the early days, producing famed jazz artists such as Duke Ellington. DC is also known for rock, country, classical, and its very own genre called go-go.
DC is considered the national center for arts; it is where Columbia Records, one of the biggest record labels, was born.
One of the most exciting concerts coming to DC this year is Colombian sensation Shakira, who is going to perform at Capital One Arena. It’ll be one of a kind of experience to hear her sing “Hips Don’t Lie” to a packed crowd.
Mariah Carey, Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee with more than 200 million albums sold, is also set to grace the stage in DC.
You can also catch rock and pop megastar Justin Timberlake in the Capital One Arena in the coming months. Timberlake is known for hits such as “SexyBack" and "Cry Me a River."
Other noteworthy concerts in Washington D.C. include Artemas and Polo G: The Hood Poet Tour.
There’s no shortage of concert venues in DC, with more than 300 venues in Washington!
The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is an important cultural hub, dedicated as a memorial to the late president. You can witness various high-stake performances in pop, jazz, folk, psychedelic, and orchestras here.
The Ford's Theatre holds a bit of somber history, as this is the place where President Lincoln was assassinated.
Other popular venues include the Capital One Arena, Echostage, and the 9:30 Club.
Finding Events: It’s all right to go by your favorite genres, but it is also a good idea to try some new genres – how else will you discover new music that you’d like?
Best Time to Visit: District of Columbia concerts happen all around the year and you can attend them any season. However, outdoor concerts are not a good idea during winter.
Age and Restrictions: Some concerts prohibit those below the age of 18 or 21, due to the service of alcohol. Usually, you are not allowed to bring any food or drinks from outside.
Parking is always a challenge in DC; you may have to buy a separate parking pass if you want to travel with your vehicle. Traffic is also equally bad, so set out as early as possible. Also, find out whether you are in the right queue in case there are multiple ones.
Concerts50 helps you find events to attend and also lists ticket prices from multiple sellers so you can pick the cheapest one. You can search by city, state, or venue, allowing you to be informed of concerts near you. You can also follow your favorite artist or band and we’ll notify you when they have new events scheduled.
Buy your tickets now and you can attend the concert of your liking today, tomorrow, or this weekend.
