The Midwestern state of Indiana has a vibrant history of music, with genres such as rap, rock, country, and edm. It is also here that jazz gained steam after Chicago and New Orleans. The late great Michael Jackson was from this state; other notable artists from Indiana include Janet Jackson, John Mellencamp, Van Halen, and John Hiatt.
