Church of Holmen Concerts 2024

Beautiful Church ( hidden gem, noone else there when we visited ). Stunning crypt at end of the main building ( just go through doors ). It was also so warm on a very cold Copenhagen day. Very welcome stop.

Brilliant for music. Beautiful room, fantastic acoustics

Entrance fee is not charged. The altar and pulpit are intricate and well decorated. The pipe organ is brilliant.

God’s name, Jehovah, or its Hebrew counterpart, יהוה, is in large gold letters. The name also appears inside the gate on a commemorative plaque dated 1661. Ref below Psalms 100:4 Come into his gates with thanksgiving, Into his courtyards with praise. Give thanks to him; praise his name Within walking distance stands another building called the Round Tower (Rundetårn). On the outer wall 🔝 the divine name appears in large Hebrew letters as part of a sign in Latin.

I was not planning on visiting this church but I was walking past it and really needed a wee so went in to see if they had a toilet and no, they don't have it. I'm so glad I wandered in as this is such a beautiful church. The musical organs are just magnificent and they have this model of a boat hanging of the ceiling in the middle of the church which I just found so interesting and amazingly carved. I recommend visiting for for all the manual work that went into it.
