EGLISE SAINT-REMI Reviews

A church built in the 20th century which replaced a too small church which was falling into ruin. The project was carried out with will and tenacity by Father Joseph Bossenec, who was a fisherman and nicknamed Tonton Joz by maritime professionals. Built in granite and schist stones, the interior space is very vast. The barrel-vaulted and groined wooden ceiling is supported by very long-span concrete double arches. The narrow aisles are limited to the east by diaphragm arches which open onto a false transept. The original glass roofs beautifully light the interior. The stained glass windows, historic or non-historical, figurative or non-figurative, modern or more classic, are worth a detour alone. 2 churches preceded the current church at this location. Their patron saint was Saint-Riok (4th century). The Vatican never having recognized this saint, the Roman church named Saint-Remi as his replacement. At the age of 15, Saint-Riok became a hermit in a lost cave by the coast. After 41 years, he became a monk at the abbey of Landévennec, following the request of Saint-Guénolé.

Beautiful church with maintained architecture. We will regret certain clumsy stained glass windows of questionable taste. Very beautiful restored organ.

Very interesting church with unusual, partly modern and worth seeing stained glass windows, which probably don't exist again in Brittany. The church is currently being renovated but is open and accessible. It's worth taking a look here.

Very beautiful.

Contemporary church, the stained glass windows are however very pretty. During the orchestra's concert the acoustics were very good. It’s a shame that in winter the church is not heated.
