We didn't really have Bad Lauchstädt on our radar. Wrongfully so, as we discovered after our visit yesterday, Saturday. The weather wasn't ideal and the corona-related restrictions aren't particularly helpful in increasing the attractiveness of the place. Nevertheless, we really enjoyed our visit to the spa facilities. There are buildings that are in perfect condition and unfortunately also houses that urgently need to be renovated. The history of the place as a luxury and fashion spa and meeting place for high society is very interesting. Goethe, Schiller, Wagner...they were all here and left their mark. However, the once so valued spring and healing water now leads a desolate existence. Unfortunately, the fountain with its beautiful sandstone balustrade and the 8 putti as well as the double stairs to the fountain bowl no longer bubbles and has been planted. Has the well run dry? The Bad Lauchstädter Heil- und Mineralbrunnen company has been bankrupt since 2011 and the company premises are rotting away. Nevertheless, the spa park with its facilities and the castle is well worth seeing. We'd love to come back when everything is open.

We had a great tour with lots of interesting information. We just couldn't visit the theater because there was a performance.
