Alte Oper Concerts 2025-2026

I walked to Alte Oper from Frankfurt Central station and was glad I took the 20 minutes to do so. I did not go inside but walked around the outside. It’s a stunning building in the heart of downtown, with beautiful architecture, shapes and contours. It also contrasts against the high-rise buildings that surround it. There is also a great restaurant nearby and sitting place right in front of the building.

The old opera house is within a walking distance from the main train station. It is inside the charming inner city of Frankfurt am Main. The house was badly damaged during the WWII bombings but rebuilt in the 70s. It is in active use today. The surroundings are beautiful in Spring time when the cherry trees are blooming. A lot of good restaurants in the vicinity. No wonder it is a popular area for the locals.

One of the cultural highlights of my Frankfurt trip was "The Sound of Ennio Morricone" concert at this venue. The evening was a profound homage to Morricone's genius, with each note played echoing in the grand halls, transporting us through his iconic film scores. The setting, rich in history and beauty, made the experience unforgettable, reminding us of the power of music to transcend time and space.

I find the building is very fascinating. The plaza is very beautiful as well.
