Great art museum. With both historical and contemporary pieces. If you go to a special exhibit like the David Friedrich Caspar exhibition you should purchase tickets in advance, but if you go to the permanent exhibition you'll probably be fine just buying at the registers.

Very interesting and huge art museum with beautiful historic interior design. Offering nice permanent exhibitions as well as very cool seasonal setups. Recommend booking tickets in advance, especially for seasonal special shows that are only for a short period of time.

What an amazing museum! First of all, the building in itself is so gorgeous! There are many famous artists too and the selection is great. The main room you come into from the entrance is epic and so stunning. I truly wish to go back and spend more time for each Art piece. I think about 3hrs is a good time to dedicate to visiting this museum.

This museum has it all: modern art, sculptures, old paintings, contemporary art. It’s nice for young and old. The price is also good, however the signage could be a bit better. We got lost in this big museum.

Excellent Caspar David Friedrich exhibit with an astounding number of works from all sorts of places, thoughtfully grouped. Part 2 with contemporary works exploring CDF’s themes offers some wonderful surprises. Part 3 consists of two Kehinde Wiley pieces and is located quite far away in the old building. However, they are installed adjacent to a gigantic Makart painting, and Wiley’s sense of scale seems a bit diminished by it. Worth seeing if you haven’t seen Wiley’s work before, but I would save that trip and spend more time with part 1 instead. Spent 3.5 hours, very few places to sit—only in part 2. Extremely crowded.
