Very nice exhibitions on Egypt and Korea. Having lived in Seoul for a year, it was really amusing to see the display about Korea nowadays. Everything is explained both in German and English, and there is a mix of modern and classical art. The museum is not so big, but you can spend at least an hour inside.

I was expecting more from this museum based on the reviews. But sadly, I was disappointed. Most exhibits were in German (to be expected), but I feel it also limits the enjoyment of the museum for those who aren't fluent in the language. Last but not least, there wasn't much to see in the museum itself. If you can't read German or have someone with you that can, your visit will probably be very quick! If you're into history, go, if not, don't go! Visited 8/30/23

An original experience. We like everything in this museum. People can witness different cultures and this is amazing.

Due to the nature of ethnographic museum, but still in my opinion, the exhibition was a bit random. There was an exhibition about skiing from Hamburg to south Tirol, Benin kingdom, Polynesian islands and South Korea. The building itself is very beautiful but if you are in Hamburg just for a couple of days as a tourist, then this might not be the priority. Of course depending on your personal interest.

What a surprise. Great museum. Fabulous exhibitions on cultural topics - especially the second floor is well worth visiting with its changing exhibits. Exhibit on Benin status is excellent and will return for good to Nigeria in 2023! Great move!
