When I moved to Neunkirchen with my family in 1956, the old hut area was covered in smoke and dust every day. Around 7,000 ironworkers found employment here. The city center had to deal with lively crowds every day at shift changes. The then old tram (French railway) also ran along the tracks of the city center to Spiesen.

The old hut area in Neunkirchen consists of the old water tower, the Stummchen riding hall, the new blower hall and the restored blast furnaces. Smaller events take place in the Stummchen riding hall and larger events in the new Gebläsehalle. There are restaurants and a cinema in the water tower. You can park directly at the blast furnaces or at the Stummchen riding hall. The area of the restored blast furnaces is a highlight and an impressive sight, especially in the evening with changing color lighting.
