Le Méridien Grand Hotel Nuremberg Reviews

Very disappointing hotel. Almost need a ladder to get in and out of tub. Mattress old and needs to be replaced. While I’m told they have upgraded rooms with showers we were refused. I’ve been a Marriott member for years platinum elite status. I was involved in an accident a week before our scheduled vacation but decided to attempt the trip. I expected better treatment? On the other hand, breakfast is amazing. Beware, this is part of a Viking side trip. Marriott is not what it was. David Winters. 990370645

Nice hotel. Rooms are rather small but large enough if you are alone. Bathroom is clean, water pressure is good. Staff are friendly and helpful. Hotel is located 1min from the main station with train, bus and subway connections, so very convenient!

I booked the king deluxe bed room around a month before and even wrote to them a week before about my room. Once me and my colleague arrive they tell me it's overbooked only for me (my colleague booked a few days after me) and they kept telling me to go to the bar and have a drink instead of solving my issue witht he room. After a while they said they can give me the same type of room at the hotel next door (Plaza hotel) but once I arrived at the room it was small and standard room. They didn't even try to apologize for the inconvenience also, they said that the room I booked had no breakfast included (all the hotels that are booked through the company I work with has breakfast included). And I thought that the least they could do after overbooking my room and give me a standard room to offer me free breakfast but no.... after my stay I contacted them because the room I got was cheaper than the one I'd booked and had too pay for but they haven't given me a reply even though 3 weeks has passed and I've also reminded them to give me a reply regarding my email. Will never book room at this hotel again. Worst service I've ever encountered!!

Loved our stay here, room was on the small side but very comfortable. The location is perfect, right next to the train station and across from an entrance to old town. Loved the large bathroom as well. We ate at the restaurant and it was very good, the cafe in the morning was great for a coffee before heading out for the day. Would stay here again.

This hotel has a beautiful interior and is located close to the train station, however, I would not recommend staying here. It is very clear that the front desk manager does not care about hospitality at all and is more focused on the profit margin of the hotel. My mother and I were set to arrive in Nuremberg on November 28th, 2023. This was the night of the big snow storm that occurred the weekend of November 28th - December 2nd, 2023. The unexpected levels of snow in Munich and other parts of Germany caused every train getting to Nuremberg to be cancelled. We were stuck overnight at the open air train station in Mainz. We got zero sleep and were in the cold for 7 hours while we waited for the next morning train to Nuremberg. When we finally arrived to the hotel at 8am, we spoke to a nice young man at the front desk. We asked if there was any way we could stay in the room until 6pm since we were leaving that evening to head to our next destination and would not need the room the entire night. All we really needed was some sleep as we had not slept for more than 24 hours. The young man said he checked with the manager and he approved pushing our reservation back a day so we could leave anytime before checkout time the next day. We were so grateful. We headed up to the room and went to sleep. 2 hours later we were woken up to loud knocking on the door. It was the manager telling us we needed to leave. I said, "we spoke to the young man at the front desk and he said we could leave by tomorrow morning." This manager said "no, that was not correct, you need to leave." I said "ok, I don't understand where the discrepancy occurred but is there any way we can stay a bit longer so we can sleep?" He gave us one extra hour. I have worked in the hospitality industry for 13 years and have worked many front desk jobs so I understand how hotels work. I would not have been mad if they told us they could not accommodate us due to back-to-back reservations. I was upset because the front desk clearly was not communicating with each other and there was zero empathy for their guest that already paid and did not even use their room. The manager did not care at all that this much snow had not dropped since 2006 and was causing chaos for everyone. The storm in Munich dropped 17 inches of snow, which shut down the trains to many destinations in Germany. The way you handle unexpected situations and treat your guests in said situations really shows if you care about the people or the profits. I would have never handled that situation like that. I would have offered anything I could to help my guests. The only bright spot was the young man at the front desk. We gave him our key and I could tell he was so embarrassed about the situation. He offered us a couple of free drinks as very small consolation. Do not stay here. They do not care about you as a guest, they just want your money. If you want that type of service, just stay somewhere cheaper.
