A very pleasant museum with lots of interesting things to look with kids. The entrance is free, but it's hard to find a place to eat on Sunday 😊

Salzgitter town’s museum is housed in a Renaissance style Schloss and has free entry. There’s a wide range of interesting collections. In the geology section there’s a 115 million year old ichthyosaur fossil skeleton, various other fossils, stones and Neanderthal relics. There are rooms furnished in different historical styles, sections detailing the town history, an extensive toy collection, industrial exhibits, agricultural equipment, a windmill and an Ice Age Garden. The staff are very helpful and enthusiastic. A great town museum!
