Dom Sankt Blasien Concerts 2024

quite stunning building in a small town, absolutely unexpected. Great example of past German splendor in its neoclassical style. Absolutely worth a visit. Makes you feel small and humble 😂

Very ornate church with a huge dome. Mass was ending when we visited and there was a lovely calm peaceful atmosphere around the building.

We drove by St. Blasien by chance and then saw this huge cathedral in the middle of the Black Forest. We decided to stop and visit. And wow, what a beautiful cathedral it is! Not the typical gold-covered altars as one would expect but beautiful white marble (?) stones. Definitely one of the most beautiful cathedrals I've ever seen!

FREE ENTRY. Huge dom with white marble interior. Its a great restoration of the previous burned dom. Paid car park nearby until 18h00 on week days so I recommend going after that hour which leaves a 30 minute window do see the dom.

We came one Saturday afternoon but the church, the main attraction of this place, was closed due to concert preparations. It was disappointing for a number of other tourists too. A small spa resort which has little to offer beyond its church with the biggest cupole north of the Alps.
