New St. Thomä is one of the numerous old Lutheran churches in Soest's old town. Originally built as a monastery church for the Franciscan Minorites (as with the Dominican Church, which was destroyed in the 19th century, it was the first church built by the mendicant order in Westphalia) after the order was abolished in 1806, it was initially used for concerts etc. until it was taken over by the community of Old St. Thomä was acquired. Badly destroyed in the Second World War, it was rebuilt as true to the original as possible. The many gravestones from the 14th to 18th centuries and the baptismal font from the 15th century are of particular value.

Great concert, but why do churches always have to be so cold in winter?

My home church, where I was baptized and confirmed, and where I experienced Easter and Christmas services as a child and teenager. The wide, high and light-flooded Gothic hall church with the very long choir conjured up organ acoustics in the room that still give me goosebumps today. A simple Gothic hall with high, non-colored window panels, which allows you to experience such a light and very intense feeling of space precisely because of this withdrawal of everything superfluous.

Hello community An incredibly beautiful church inside. I was recently invited to confirmation and was able to spend a good hour there. I have to admit that I'm not exactly the biggest churchgoer, but I really liked this church. In addition to the two pastors who held this confirmation service, I noticed that an incredibly beautiful sound image was created here. You all know the sound of a surround system? In any case, an incredibly beautiful sound system that would attract me to festivities there at any time. It's best if you go there yourself and check my statement. You'll notice that I didn't promise too much. With this in mind, many more beautiful services to the two pastors and also to the congregation of this church 👍👍👍
