Gut Schmerwitz Reviews

The café was highly recommended to us. So, I quickly decided to check the opening times online and, after a positive comparison, put my mom in the car and off to the countryside. According to the calendar, the last closed event was yesterday. But instead of cake, it was puff cake. A large sign told us that not all closed events were shown on the website calendar. After a meaningless shrug from one of the employees, we had to start our journey home hungry for cake and thirsty for coffee. No matter, we now know where the next trip into the countryside isn't going.

It's a nice place, but they don't think it's necessary to inform guests if the restaurant is closed for an unscheduled time. Today on September 29th, 2023 we stood in front of a closed door. However, the opening times on the door made it clear that it should be open today. Actually. But it was closed. No explanation is given, it said on the internet (Google) that the restaurant was open today. Telephone calls remain unanswered, although there is certainly the possibility of speaking to someone with information. All in all: very unprofessional and unfriendly to customers.

A very nice cafe with delicious cakes. And the ceramics workshop also offers really beautiful ceramics for sale. And the farm shop sells products from the estate. You just have to take something with you.

Back there after almost 2 years. A lot has changed. The castle already looks great. Very good service in the pottery workshop, the cat is also there😍the farm shop is well stocked, I shopped very well. The cafe was a bit of a disappointment for me, few guests, unfunny and inattentive staff. Overwhelmed? I don't know anything else...it worked better before Corona. I left after a long wait ,without consuming anything. But we'll be back, maybe you just had a bad day... oh well, one more time, when it came to eggnog, the bottle wasn't quite full...

The positive reviews entered here all refer to the restaurant or the farm shop, which I can essentially understand. Our review concerns the holiday apartment. This is fine in itself, everything is stylish and relatively new. Unfortunately, this cannot be confirmed at all when it comes to the service of looking after holiday guests and, above all, the surrounding area. The only renovated building in which the holiday apartments are located is located in the middle of completely run-down houses. When you step out you find yourself in a kind of asylum home because several different extended families from Afghanistan and other countries live there. Considering that you pay €100 per day for an apartment, which is reasonable, you don't expect such an environment, especially since the place is advertised as an idyll on the Internet! The noise that comes from this environment and its inhabitants does its part to spoil the holiday idyll. A tour of the farm, which was also advertised on the Internet, did not take place even though we had registered for it. When we arrived we had to look for accommodation in the huge area ourselves, but the entire amount for the stay was demanded upon arrival! There is a huge gap between the idyll advertised on the Internet and the harsh reality. All we can say is: “A holiday idyll is something different!” We expressly have nothing against accepting migrant families, but then this is not a holiday destination for a family with children to relax and unwind. P.S.: Our friendly feedback addressed to the owner has remained unanswered for more than 3 weeks! That's why we only decided to publish this review now.
