The view is amazing, the staff is very friendly and the food is good. Although, I expected more from the food, I’ve had a fish from the north see, it was quite ok, but nothing that I would say I’m coming back for it. It’s a great place to have a nice time and good view during your meal. You can also be surprised with a robot serving your table if you are eating inside, it’s a bit entertaining.

The food itself was nice but could have used a lot more spices. The schnitzel we had tasted very bland, had a good crust and was nice and thin but could have definitely done with more salt. The view is nice, waiting times can be quite long when it is busy and the service staff was helpful as well.

The restaurant has a great location overlooking the Steinhuder Meer. The service was very accomodating and fast. We had a seafood plate but unfortunately the food was not properly seasoned.

From the outside it looks great... However, should one venture inside, one is likely to be disappointed. We have visited twice now, and both times were borderline disaster. The restaurant staff are poor, to be polite. On our second visit, the young lady started politely enough, but strangely seemed agitated when we asked for the bill. We kept watching her saunter by, nonchalantly, expecting she would want to take our payment. After 10 minutes of waiting, we decided it was long enough, so my wife approached the young lady and reminded her. Her face told the story, which was simply-how dare you ask me when I am busy laughing and joking with other staff members! Shame on you customer! We were perplexed. She appeared so wrapped up in herself, like a princess who cannot be disturbed, she had forgotten the purpose of her role. Certainly for her, it wasn't to cater to customers or collect payments for the business. Our experience was further soured when the customer behind us became angry with a waiter who refused to serve them a meal because their children were eating ice cream they had bought elsewhere. Two little ice cream cones. Do the staff here see their roles as petty officers, or professional staff capable of exercising discretion. The waiter was so wrapped up in following rules and edicts set down by his master, he had forgotten basic human decency. They were children, not adults! The staff here would rather follow what appears unreasonable, harsh rules than take money for the business. If the business owners support this, then my advice to anyone visiting Steinhude is to stay away from this appalling place, and eat at other places nearby with equally nice views. In truth, the views are really the only thing worth coming for. The food here is bland, the drinks nothing special, and the price extortionate. You can do much better elsewhere.
