We booked a room in Clayton hotel in Galway, on a last minute decision. As we expected the room very clean and fresh, the dinner and breakfast in the restaurant was excellent, also the staff was amazing. Will definitely use them again.

Memorable Stay and Exceptional Wedding Menu Tasting Rating: 5/5 My recent stay at the Clayton hotel was nothing short of fantastic! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism by the staff, setting the tone for a wonderful experience. The room was impeccably clean and tastefully decorated. One highlight of our visit was the wedding menu tasting we attended at the hotel's restaurant. The culinary team outdid themselves with a delectable array of dishes that left us truly impressed. From the appetizers to the main course and desserts, each dish was expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. The presentation was also exquisite, adding to the overall dining experience. Moreover, the staff especially our server Anne and the manager Elaine went above and beyond. Overall, our experience at the Clayton exceeded all expectations, and we cannot wait to return for our upcoming wedding celebration. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a memorable stay and exceptional dining experience.

I attended with more mature parents for a concert of old time singers. The show did not disappoint. The hotel itself is lovely, breakfast was great, fantastic selection of foods and beverages to suit every palate. The hot food could have been hotter though. Jack, one of the servers was exceptional, very friendly and helpful. I used the pool, it was lovely, the water temperature was perfect, it seemed warm which was a welcome surprise to other pools where you take a risk with hypothermia. Gerry, the gentleman in reception was so friendly, helpful and cheerful, a treasure to deal with. Over all the hotel is spotless, there are plenty of lifts to cater for those less mobile and plenty of stairs for the more able bodied and energetic. I could not fault the hotel, the service or the staff, well done everyone

Recently I spent the night in the Clayton, for the Galway Drum Show. The experience was very much mixed. The good: -A few nice and attentive staff members like Bruno. -Good location in Galway -Decent standard of food in the bar -Comfy bed The bad: -Most of the staff/service was one star -The general tidiness was very poor -The pool was closed due to an "incident" -The breakfast was inedible To illustrate point one: Almost every staff member was either disinterested or rude. Service was worse than at a fast food place. Orders were wrong, cutlery wasn't provided, water required four requests, to three people. The bar was a pigsty. Every table not being used was covered in dirty glasses and dishes. 1 star. A walk through the hotel lobby had two strangers complain to me about how impossible it was to get a cup of coffee. At noon. When I returned home I spoke to a neighbour who said - without prompting - "I was there seven years ago and the service was absolutely awful'. The breakfast was utterly inedible. I travel a LOT for work and this was up there with the worst breakfasts I've ever been served. Two bites and then I just left and went somewhere else. I also happened to overhear someone involved with the drum show saying, 'we'll be complaining about how we were treated and won't return here next year'. Take that as a rumour, as I don't know the man who said it. But I wouldn't be surprised if it was true. Everyone seemed unimpressed, put out or frustrated. I wouldn't ever return. Nor recommend it. It's clear there's a few people there struggling to make this hotel into a decent place, like Bruno, and one of the servers in the restaurant, but the rest of the staff and the management, and ownership, seemed to have mentally checked out years ago. Not 4 star. Not even 3 star. Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Beautiful hotel. Receptionist was great with recommendations to city centre bars to visit and nailed it with her recommendations of the Dáil Bar and Kings head. Bathrooms were small and showers didn’t have the greatest water pressure but all in all a great stay.
