King John's Castle is an ancient massive structure, a fortress with a very rich history, built in Limerick on the banks of the river. After the halls with interactive history stands, you go out into the courtyard of the fortress. There you will find the most interesting things for children - many games and entertainment. There you can see the towers, climb up, admire the beautiful scenery and the rapid river with rapids. The fortress has its own free parking lot for visitors about 200 meters from the fortress

WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT: 1. It’s both a museum and a hands-on archeological site that you are free to explore. 2. They layout is the perfect build of anticipation—starting with a typical museum layout, followed by an underground journey showcasing the castle foundation, followed by the overwhelming courtyard, and lastly, a guest can wrap things up (in no hurry) by exploring all the nooks and crannies (rooms, halls, and towers, oh my!). 3. Restrooms are available at multiple locations. 4. Fantastic gift shop. 5. Free, designated parking lot (car park) about 1 block away. —— CAUTIONS: 1. Seating or places to rest are very limited. 2. Of course, with much of this attraction being outdoor, inclement weather can affect your experience.

Gives you a small taste of medieval Limerick. To reach it from city centre you’ll have to go across the old bridge at the far end to the right of the city. You won’t be disappointed once there. If you’re looking to cut corners by trying to get to it from near the Wheel and crossing the small white footbridge, you will only meet a dead end that brings you to the rear of the Castle. Very frustrating! So don’t make that mistake.

Nice tour with good historical information. It's not the biggest or the bast castle tour in Ireland, but it's worth the stop. You get to see some of the original foundation, and the view of Limerick from the towers is extremely nice. This castle has been beaten and battered through the centuries from Wars and rebellions.
