Not too bad of a place to play an instrument. Does feel run down.

This memorial hall is also used as a concert hall. There are some things that are just too big. It was designed by Togo Murano, who also worked on Tokyo Station, and although this may be my personal impression, the buildings designed by Togo Murano seem to have a unique worldview. The Togo Murano memorial hall had unparalleled acoustics at the time, and was said to be the best in western Japan. It seems that it was used extensively for cultural activities even after the war. The memorial hall was decided to be located at the current location (Oaza Kokushi Shimonohama, commonly known as Shima-no-mae), which was a rice field at the time, and includes Okinoyama Coal Mine, Ube Cement KK, Nitrogen Industry KK, Ube Iron Works, Ube Electric Railway KK, and Shin-Okinoyama. Seven companies, including the coal mining association and Ube Boseki KK, invested in the project, which began work in June 1930 and was completed two years later in May 2012. In 1997, it was registered as a national cultural property. The statue of Yusaku Watanabe was donated by citizens and was created by sculptor Fumio Asakura. By the way, you cannot normally see the interior unless you make a reservation.

The last time I stood on stage at a choir competition was when I was a student, and I haven't been on stage in 40 years. I had the impression that there were no concert-type events in Ube before, but lately it seems like they are being held little by little. I would like to see more events held here to revitalize the city.

A cultural hall that symbolizes Ube City, which has grown together with Ube Industries, the hall was designed by master master Togo Murano, and although it was completed in 1945, it does not feel old and has excellent acoustics.

This is a cultural hall in Ube City. I thought it was built around the end of the Showa era, but it is a historic hall that will soon be 90 years old as it was completed in 1937 before the war. It was a time when such facilities were only found in large cities. The hall was built in Ube City to commemorate the achievements of Yusaku Watanabe, the founder of Ube Industries (currently UBE), and was donated to the city by a related company. stands in front of the hall, showing the booming economy of Ube at the time. The hall is a masterpiece of modernist architecture from the early Showa period and has been designated as an important cultural property of the country, and you can tour the inside on weekdays when there are no events.
