I usually go here to see the Yucatan Symphony Orchestra. After a fire damaged their regular home about 2 years ago they've been playing here and honestly it has been for the better. It's a more modern hall with good acoustics, better viewing and much more comfortable seating than the previous hall. I've also seen excellent shows here of international musicians during Meridafest which takes place every year in January. The hall holds around 500 people so it's quite intimate. The staff there are also very helpful. I would recommend to anyone visiting Merida to see some shows here.

An extraordinary place to learn about various aspects of Mexican music across history, geography, genres, and names, highly recommended. Great interactive displays. Although it was difficult to concentrate on listening while the music and narratives are coming from multiple sources in the same room. For newcomers, a map of the floor would be helpful.

One of the best museums I have ever visited! Beautifully curelated and everything interactive. Lots of rooms for kids and adults alike to explore and an informative visit about such a rich history of mexican music

I thought that the reviews were exaggerating so we only went there with 1.5 hours time. Turns out that the reviews were a total understatement: As a teacher I have to say, every Museum needs to be like this one!!! So much interaction, exploring, listening, seeing, doing (yes, you even get to dance/learn steps interactively!). It’s amazing what has been set up here in Merida and this museum deserves a lot more recognition! It is a must when you’re in town. As I mother of a 19 months toddler, I especially appreciated the kids room where my daughter got to try out and play all kinds of instruments! We both had a blast today and I’m thinking about returning during our last couple of days in town; that’s how much we liked it. Downsides are the limited opening hours (we arrived on a Monday to learn that the museum is closed on Mondays and tuesdays), the missing toilet seats in the restrooms and the hygiene (huge cockroach at the sinks 😖).

We attended a #Candlelight Coldplay tribute concert here and it was amazing! The staff were great and the facility was beautiful. Will definitely be back.
