Museo de la Ciudad Reviews

So this isn’t a museum about Queretaro city, it’s a modern art museum in an a ramshackle old building. Some exhibits are quite creative, though there isn’t much in the way of explanation (and what there is is in Spanish only). It’s free and worth a visit if you’re into modern art.

This is a place that demonstrates the type of buildings in the Centro Histórico. They rotate the exhibitions of the first floor, while the top floor is all about the construction of the temple and it's convertion into a museum. It is free every Sunday. There is also a mummy on the top floor.

This place gives off creepy vibes-maybe because we went in the evening? It’s a former convent and it’s pretty run down. One of the security guards had some interesting stories to share about the building and creepy things that he’s seen. It seemed like someone was camping out there and seem to have some of his clothes hanging on the weird wooden structure around the fountain. Was that part of the installation?? I don’t think so…. It’s cool that local artists have somewhere to show their art. Our admission was free—not sure if it always is. We went Sunday evening.

There is SO much history in the building itself! A former religious convent that was turned into a museum around ‘97. You will need a guide to help you learn about it, since this is not a historic museum. There are several presentations, cinema, design, music concerts and traditional, contemporary and modern art expositions. They are usually great and free. Would definitely recommend!
