São Luiz Teatro Municipal Concerts 2024

I'll use this to write a review more about the play I saw, rather than the place itself. The Teatro is an old, beautiful one, nothing to add more to this. Now, the play. I was sadly in the crowd of the last representation of “Os Demónios Não Gostam de Ar Fresco”, and this was one of the worst art experience of my entire life. First, the play starts with Liv Ulmann telling how much the play is great and how much the text is great. I instantly thought that such level of egotrip will only lead to a disaster. And it did. This play had nothing to do with the poor Ingmar Bergman, and that's the saddest part about it. Or it's that dissimulated, that they are irrelevant, or only to those with extreme precise knowledge about the filmmaker. Which, obviously, makes the whole thing even more pretentious than the first "scene" would make you thought. The whole experience really looks like an end of study work, pretentious and empty. We even had a scene faking a technical issue, which is something I thought was reserved for another century. After this, I stopped paying attention to the play, as I didn't feel respected by it. One of the "moment" was the last scene, which was just one more thing to show off without having anything to say. It was really a painful moment, and we even stressed not to be late to not miss what we thought will be a great moment. If anybody reads this and share more or less the same of opinion, or is simply curious to understand more why I'm writing this. São Luiz usually has an interesting program, it is also a beautiful building and the staff is very friendly. One of the nice things about this theatre is that it was built in a way that even in the cheapest spots you can still see the stage fully.

Classic theatral place to watch all sort of pieces shown. Cozy, stylish and elegant

Young and very nice people will host and direct you to your place. It's very comfortable.
