Pestana Palácio do Freixo Concerts 2024-2025

Booked online for an overnight stay at this very luxurious hotel located on the outskirts of Porto's main area on the river. Arrived through electric gates to the hotel to a very safe and large car park. I was greeted by very friendly and very professional staff who were really helpful. I booked an executive room which had stunning views of the river. The room was very luxurious and the bed was amazingly comfortable with lovely crisp white sheets and quilt. The only thing I would say is the lighting in the bathroom was not very bright and the water pressure was not very good which meant the tap was slow and the shower was not powerful but still adequate. There is a free shuttle bus downtown and back up from the main area in Porto which means you can enjoy everything Porto has to offer but at the end of the day you are in a hotel which is peaceful and luxurious. I would recommend this hotel.

The hotel itself is amazing and the staff is even more amazing! Everyone that works there is discret, kind and goes above & beyond to make the client feel welcome. The breakfast was really nice with many buffet & to-order dishes. The outdoor pool has amazing views and is really one of the best parts of this hotel. It's a little far from the city (40 minutes walking along the river or 7 minutes Uber), but worth it as it's relaxing and a really peaceful setting. The rooms are nice & clean and quite spacious, but a bit outdated. They could use a little more modern touches (lighter coloured paint, new lamps, etc). That said, the most positive thing about the room is the king-sized bed that is the most comfortable bed we've ever stayed on!

What a lovely experience to stay at a such a beautiful place - historic and up to date. The service and the professionalism is outstanding. You feel welcomed. The diner was on a high level, the breakfast something we rarely experienced. A hotel to recommend. Christoph

Lovely hotel with excellent view of River Douro. Garden was nice. Corridors a bit dark and it was easy to get lost moving from one section of the hotel to another. We enjoyed the welcome drink and cake very much. Sadly for us, the overall service at the restaurant (for dinner) and with the porters was below what would be expected of a luxury hotel like this one. Breakfast service was good.

It was a wonderful experience, however, it is a bit removed from the city centre and about 7€ Uber. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. Breakfast is included and very filling. You will need to enter a gate off the main road, hit the button on the intercom and reception will answer. Thank you for an excellent stay!
