The Market Theatre Reviews

The Cry of Winnie Mandela: Departures. Waitings. Returns. MoMo Matsunyane directs this play that was adapted by playwright Alex Burger from a book of the same name written by Njabulo S. Ndebele. The story of Mama Winnie is the story of every womxn which was beautifully portrayed through different womxn played by Rami Chuene, Ayanda Sibisi, Pulane Rampoana, Siyasanga Papu, and Nambitha Mpumlwana as Winnie Mandela. Lesley Nkosi portrays the Prof who is so adamant in telling Mama Winnie's story. The play ran from March 30 and got a two weeks extension until May 5.

Beautiful theatre productions promoting and showcasing South African talent through live performances. I would highly recommend visiting as often as possible 😁

Sma theater so nice and intimate. They don't provide seat nrs so it's a free for all which can prove quite chaotic. They have a bar that sells drinks and some snacks. You're also able to buy tickets on site.

Historical theater in Johannesburg. It's located near the CBD area, so I recommend to go by Uber or something from safely area. Inside was no problem, you can walk. Musical was so amazing!
