BLUESEA Gran Cervantes Reviews

This was a short break, only 5 days. Once the restaurant knew that I'm plant based and gluten free they were very helpful and more dishes became available. The food was top notch and the service in the restaurant was very good. Scoring 2 stars for the room because the mattresses in the beds were incredibly uncomfortable. We asked for them to be changed, if they did, I couldn't tell. There was something in our toilet the whole time we were there. I'm not sure what it was, but it simply wouldn't flush. The rest of the room was traditional Spanish style and very clean. They had a fridge too. We lived the fact that we were so close to the centre of town and enjoyed walking out at night to local bars. We also loved walking along the promenade during the day. We outdid ourselves in steps and met some lovely people. The entertainment at the hotel was a bit hit and miss but that aside, in general and mainly due to the restaurant service we'd go back. The rooftop pool gives plenty of all round views of the town. Fabulous!

Good points: The rooms are clean and spacious. There are 2 pools, one in the roof with a bar with great views - but Sky Bar opens at 15:00 😳 The location is very good - close to the centre of town. The dinner buffet costs 20 euro if you're not All Inclusive or Half-board, and is good value with a good choice - but if you ate there every day - it could become boring. Negative points. The lifts. You could be waiting a long time. The staff. On reception they are reasonably efficient, but I wouldn't call it friendly service. In the restaurant, the staff work hard, but again, they don't seem very friendly. You cannot reserve tables for a specific time if you have a large group. There are no water boilers/ kettles in the room. You have to pay a deposit and obtain one from reception. In the double rooms, there is only 1 glass in the bathroom. If you buy drinks for your room, you'll have to buy plastic cups. The bathrooms are quite cramped and small. In general, the decor in rooms and the restaurant downstairs would benefit from a modern make-over. I'd stay again, but I certainly would want a good price ) deal for the room.

From the start, we treated this hotel as a base for some of the attractions in the region, hence we took it just to sleep and have breakfast. But even for such a purpose this place is not suitable. I don't know why such reviews and high ratings, and most importantly the status of the hotel as 4*. The hotel had its glory years in the 1980s, it still looks like a guesthouse from those days. Food disgusting, on the second (and thankfully last day) the queue for breakfast consisted of slightly 20 people, so we didn't even try to eat the unfit food. Getting into the lift was a no-brainer. It was appalling that on the day of checkout the cleaning lady (dark hair, heavily done up eyelashes) very unpleasantly banged on the door a couple of times at 9am when we were gathering for breakfast, and when you opened the room door to this noise she was gone - she was apparently cleaning in the room next door, which means she was probably reminding us to get out of the room as our stay was coming to an end and she has a cleaning schedule in these molochs. Sorry, but the day doesn't end until 11am or 12pm, not 9am. We travel a lot and I can wholeheartedly say that this was the worst hotel and the worst hotel stay. The management should definitely remove the award proudly hanging in the reception area that the hotel has been rated 4.6 or so in 2022, and do a staff review. Never again.

Great hotel room is a little dated but very clean. 2 swimming pools, one ground floor, and one on the roof Location is amazing right in the middle of shops and bars Only a 3 minute walk from train station Beach towels are collected from reception. A€20 deposit is needed for each towel

Breakfast was excellent. Great location and views from the rooftop bar was fantastic. Lifts were very slow but otherwise top notch and great value for money.
