25th of January. The concert house. My first time at a concert. I leaned back in the comfortable chair, closed my eyes, tried to lower my shoulders, and dreamed away to a fantasyland. Notes that danced, were recreated by other instruments. Which were intertwined. I flew to other places. I saw streams, meadows, gently swaying leaves, beautifully dressed people, dancing or having a picnic on a summer-warm hill. I saw the fox hunting and the deer running away in the clearing. When I opened my eyes, I saw the conductor's gentle dialogue with the orchestra. Glances, hints, the interaction. The pianist, Lise de la Salle, was so fabulously good. She played so that the fantasyland was created, and the little elves danced by the side of the stream. The applause did not want to end. She sat down at the piano again, started talking to us. She talks about the unrest in the world and about peace on earth. And then everyone in the hall is silent. Calm, cautious notes reverberate in the air. As cautious and fragile as newfound friendship between two enemies. The silence....which is broken by new applause.

Inaugurated in 1926, the Hall is home to the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. It is also where the awarding ceremonies for the Nobel Prize and the Polar Music Prize are held annually. The exterior is the site of sculptor Carl Milles' 1936 bronze fountain, the Orfeus-brunnen ("the Orpheus Well").

God example of Swedish grace (neoclassical design) unique for the Northern countries (modernism came to Sweden 1930). It was designed by Ivar Tengbom and built between 1923-26. I especially appreciate the keen sense for details. Beautiful building. Worth a visit!

Lovely experience, a lot of history that I found very interesting. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I recommend this place for people that are interested in Royal Swedish Academy of Music.
