Norbreck Castle Hotel Reviews

Our stay was a disaster. 20 of us arrived for a stag do only to be told that all but 1 of our rooms had been cancelled! The hotel and booking agent blamed each other, took over 3 hours to sort out! We all had to get changed in 1 room to make it out for a table reservation, the stag was stressed on his own do trying to fix this! Upon returning checking in and getting our things from the 1 room was inconsistent, some were refused access to their belongings, others had to be escorted by security and describe the contents of their bags, while some were given a key to help themselves! More security at the hotel than in most bars in Blackpool, can see why. Kids fighting in the restaurant, the place stinks of weed you'll feel like you've been smoking it in the lifts, families shouting and swearing at each other (young kids included) in the corridors through the night, lads being carried off the premises at night. Don't expect a good night sleep, the rooms are either freezing or boiling, and it doesn't matter if you complain, they won't come up to help you. Some of our rooms had no working toilet, again not sorted the guests had to trot down to reception to use the facilities, they were all unclean with hair shavings in the sink, blood on the floor, the damage in the rooms is crazy, chunks missing out of the doors, broken lights and bed frames. I know it's a cheap hotel but this is absolutely shocking. The staff don't seem to care, with managers swinging on their chairs like school kids behind reception whilst you're talking to them. It's quite far from the main sights but has a handy tram stop right outside... That's where the one star comes from!

Our stay at the hotel was good, there were 3 adults and two children in our group and we stayed for 5 nights. The room was warm and clean (which is the main thing) as was the bathroom. Lovely pillows and sheets for the bed and slept well each night. Had a really nice bath/shower. The pool and gym were very nice and under 12s are free. The dinner at the hotel was nice especially the beef and mushroom pie and they had a range of options to choose from although some of the stuff from the menu wasn’t supplied as the small print reads *we have the right to change and alter the menu* its a bit annoying when you only like one thing from the menu and then can’t get it. The staff were all very polite and definitely helped where needed. The location is convenient as there are shops nearby. There wasn’t much entertainment on the days and nights we had stayed. The only disadvantages of our stays were the roof top wasn’t clean and not nice to look at including dirty nappies, rubbish etc. toilet lid was broken so was quite annoying as kept moving around. Wifi was bad even in the main parts and had to pay £7 a day. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and can’t really complain especially for the price.

What an absolute nightmare of a hotel. I'm well aware of "you get what you pay for" however, I've never found a hotel in this state. All I expect is clean with a bed, shower and toilet, and I stay at many hotels in this price range. I don't think this hotel has been cleaned this century... the bathroom had mould in between the tiles, the shower and sink were just generally dirty, there was pubes or beard hair in the sink, and the floor had clearly not been cleaned. The room was dated, the beds look and feel like they were bought when my grandad was in his prime. The hotel was mucky, and absolutely stuck of damp. The only time your nose got a break from the damp smell was when you passed the rooms who were clearly smoking weed. The accessibility was rubbish, my room was booked wrong (double instead of twin) and when they rectified this, they put me upstairs in a side of the hotel with no lift. I explained I still needed an accessible room and pointed out I couldn't get up there with my mobility aid, and they just shrugged, the choice was share a bed or haul myself upstairs. I can't share a bed due to my mobility issues, so I just had to get myself up those stairs, causing unnecessary pain. Considering I had to take extra pain medication, you would think I would be knocked out for the night. Unfortunately that's not possible on these hard beds that came straight from the 70's. I tossed and turned all night in pain. I honestly can't think of anything nice to say about this hotel. It was a terrible experience and I would not stay again. I know you get what you pay for, but trust me, shop around, don't stay at this filthy health hazard.

Actually not that bad i say. Some places still need renovation and mould should be cleaned. There were some suspicious holes in the bathroom and the bathroom door doesn't close. The staff were quite nice. The hotel doesn't look at all like in pictures but still was good

Checked in for a week here and absolutely changed my mind especially after reading reviews, great location, cheap parking with easy public transport available literally outside the hotel (tram//bus stop). Really clean fresh spacious room with a wonderful sea view, thanks for the upgrade from Aimee the receptionist. She made the check in experience fast, smooth and just a pleasure to talk to. Give this place a go as it’s a hidden gem contrary to some reviews. Overall feels like a steal for the price I paid! Can’t put into words how accommodating and helpful the staff are.
