Barrow Hill Roundhouse Reviews

A fabulous piece of history and a chilled morning of exploring with my 2.5 and 5 year olds. We were very lucky and got to experience the engines moving around in preparation for the beer festival mid may (which I would wholeheartedly recommend for any beer lovers - so atmospheric!). The cafe offers a decent range of food and is reasonably priced. The volunteers are clearly dedicated and so friendly - they happily explain and involve the kids. Worth the visit and the yearly family membership is not much more than a single visit - great for any families with train mad kids! This can be purchased on the day.

I would recommend this place to families if they want a good day. Out you get to learn a lot of stuff and it's really, really great place.

Well worth a visit if in the area, not as much content as I had expected. Staff and volunteers friendly and helpful, little cafe serves good value food\drink.

There's always something new to see here. The brake van ride today with the Class 02 shunter was fantastic. The place is a real credit to the team. Very much worth a visit for railway enthusiasts and it looked popular with families as well. The cafe is really nice.

Great little railway museum with lots of engines and a working turntable. Knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers demonstrated how a train was turned and in a restored signal box how trains are controlled on the line. Good facilities, cafe, shop, big car park & very reasonable entrance fee. Great day out.
