The Glasshouse International Centre for Music Reviews

Very beautiful venue. Attended today for a graduation ceremony, and I was really impressed with the building. It's beautiful inside. Parking was a little bit of an issue, but I was helped by a lovely, friendly gentleman who directed me and provided me with a ticket due to having my disabled daughter with me and exchanged it for a free pass. The car park did say it was full however it wasn't- that's why I am not awarding 5 stars. The staff inside the venue were lovely and helpful too. No complaints. Toilets were lovely and clean. Lots of disabled access, too.

This is our 2nd visit. Last night's visit was to see ABC. It was fantastic. The venue is small & clean and the staff are very friendly & helpful. Seating is comfortable unlike utilita and you get a good view in seating that isn't in the stalls (not sat there so can't comment). Nice views of the river. Would not hesitate visiting this venue again.

Go west and wet wet wet. Great view, and amazing venue. Only complaint was when advertised and booked it did not state that the main member of the band, Martin Pellow, would not be singing. The actual singer was great mind, just went to see to original group members. So a little disappointed.

May 5th, Dionne Warwick, 'Don't Make Me Over' Tour. Expected to hear a legend sing an array of songs from her legendary catalogue. Instead, was subjected to a screened documentary and a chitty chat on the sofa, with only six songs sung over the whole evening. As she sang, 'Walk on By', a number of the audience, 'walked on out'. This format makes a mockery of the non-refundable £60.50, spent on a ticket. The weighting of docu-flick & chitty chat was proportionately badly wrong and the response of the audience to her evidenced this. She struggles to sing and is supported by her eldest son. She invited the audience to sing along, more like, 'sing for her'. No disrespect for Dionne Warwick, her career, her causes, her bridging, but the whole experience was terrible, except for when she gave the audience what they had come for - legendary songs. Time for her to hang up her tonsils and ensure prospective audiences are clearly informed of her tour being a talk show. I have no issue with the venue. It's brilliant! My 1* is for entertainment value of that performance.

I am temporarily disabled, waiting for 2 hips to be replaced. Whilst approaching the entrance a member of staff came running over and asked if I would like a wheelchair. He did this and took us inside, making sure we knew whatever to go. After the performance another member of staff hurried in with the wheelchair and took us out of the auditorium. The original member of staff then took over and waited until our taxi arrived. What absolutely fantastic service, if possible pass this on as they certainly deserve recognition. Thank you so much.
