This is a wonderful hotel with an amazing history. It has only recently reopened after being closed for about three years. My husband and I used to stay here regularly so we are thrilled to be able to do so again. Our room was large, warm and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Special mention to Lucas who went out of his way to make us feel welcome and helped to settle us in comfortably.

Stayed overnight B&B Room clean and comfortable Would have preferred walk in shower rather than shower over bath but ok. Bedroom door security needs upgrading. Good breakfast. Staff friendly and helpful. Would return.

Attended a work event here. No one on reception, just a note to call a number, called the number, no reply. Went to the bar, and the man serving drinks was also the man to check us in. Was shown to my room in the main building, and I mentioned how cold it was, none of the radiators were on. The lady said that a heater had been put in my room. There were two radiators in my room; one off and the other barely lukewarm. Asked for water at the bar, they have no water 😳 how are you washing your hands? Food was.... I can't explain it. Salmon starter was good, vegetarian lasagne was like something I've never tasted before and hope not to again, the panacotta was just weird. Nothing locally was open so couldn't even get a portion of chips, was still so hungry. No water in my room, no biscuits either. I had to hold the switch of the kettle down whilst it boiled as it wouldn't boil without being aided. Breakfast was like cheap cafe food. At one point a member of staff walked in with slices of bread in her hands to refill the basket, no gloves on. The filter coffee pot had been refilled so was literally pouring out everywhere. Couldn't wait to leave. Such a shame as it's a stunning building and lovely grounds. It needs a complete overhaul.
