What a fantastic venue. We’ve been here several times now and it’s beginning to become a regular for us. It’s a cool funky vibe with an intimate gig setting so you’re up close and personal. It has a decent bar and a good space with chairs and tables then a large area for standing in front of the stage that has had some very well known stars on. Keep an eye out as you’ll be surprised to see some of the top bands playing such a small, friendly, comfortable venue. I’m looking forward to going again soon.

It's an interesting venue with some great architectural features retained from it's days as a woollen mill. Sadly those very features do somewhat add an element of jeopardy to the venue when it comes to your view of the stage. The stage is all the way across in the right hand corner of the room (as you view it). There's a number of steel pillars supporting the roof which can partially obstruct the view. Some seating is actually to the left of the stage which is decidedly odd too. The last odd thing is the toilets. While they are always spotlessly clean and well stocked, they are actually separate to the building in a shed on the car park! It's ok unless it's raining, particularly as there can be a queue. With all that said, it's an atmospheric venue that hosts some great acts and feels less formal than theatres. It's also nice to be able to put your drink down on a table. The staff are all really pleasant and helpful. I'm disabled and they've always treated me with courtesy and respect, ensuring my needs were catered for. I've enjoyed all my visits to the Old Woolen and only hesitate to give five stars because of the "quirky" nature of the venue that might impact your visit

This is a great (relatively) new venue, which I strongly recommend. It has excellent, interesting acts, and even when full maintains quite an intimate quality to it. The surroundings of the original old mill give it a great atmosphere. The bar is a reasonable price. It's open an hour or so before the gig and stays open throughout with easy access at the back of the hall. Toilets are outside in a portacabin, which was difficult on a cold, wet winter night, but not really a problem. I've already seen three acts here and hope to keep coming regularly.

Our first time at this absolutely superb venue. We arrived early as we had traveled 50 miles and were the first on the door. The gentleman who greeted us was so friendly helpful and as we hadn't been before, he informed us were we could order food from another establishment and eat it in the venue. The beer selection is excellent, plenty of friendly bar staff too. We had an amazing evening seeing the Stereo Mc's. We will definitely be revisiting, a night to remember for sure!
