I was pleasantly surprised with my visit to the castle. We had the audio guide and this was invaluable, finding out the history about the castle as we were walking around. Quite a few steps up so be aware if that but definitely worth the views from the top. A very interesting couple hours.

A great way to pass an hour or so. There are a lot of steps and although there is a side access to the castle grounds there is no disabled access to the castle itself. Still worth a visit if you can manage the stairs and very reasonable entry fee

The castle itself is very interesting, huge building with rich history. But no built path in it,all visitors have to carry on in the mud.At the gates no way to avoid to ruin your trousers, and its hard to push through a weelchair,or pram. I personally missed the "smart signs" or an interactive room with some maps and relics to see.

A small but interesting castle (keep?) with simple but well presented information and, most importantly, fantastic views when you make it to the top. 200ish steps but not difficult and plenty of places to rest on the way up if you need them.

This is an impressive castle and worth a visit if you’re in Rochester. We took our 2 and 4 year old right to the top…a bit tricky as the spiral staircase is a little tight but easily doable. Not busy on a Saturday afternoon, which was a little surprising so that helped. It’s surrounded by large grassy spaces so it’s generally a nice area for the family to spend a couple hours.
