Church Ln, Twyford, Winchester SO21 1NS, UK

There has been several mentions of churches in Twyford dating back since Saxon times with this much admired Grade II listed church you see today being completed in 1878. Designed by Alfred Waterhouse, he used reclaimed Norman building's columns, the 1520 window (moved to the vestry's east wall) and the 1402 church's east window (now in the 1924 Lady Chapel), clerestory windows and priest's entrance to the vestry's north side. A major reconstruction was done between 1903 and 1910 with large expansions to the church and the bell tower added. There is easy access and is suitable for any who wish to visit. Parking directly outside the church along Berry Lane was easy enough although spaces could be at a premium as it is used for those who park here for access to the surrounding river walks (Berry Meadow, Compton Place etc). Well worth a visit.

Idilic church by the river on one side and village on the other. Lots of river paths nearby. Bird song everywhere. Sometimes I cycle by to the church bells chiming. Beautiful place to worship and rest.

Popped in for a look around as it is next door to where we are staying. Beautiful inside, warm and welcoming! We met a lovely couple of ladies who invited us back later for mulled wine. We also listened to the bell ringers 🔔
