We did the booking online! No one tells you that you don’t actually need the ski lift if you are first timer. You can actually practice on their play area before you buy the ski lift tickets! The slops are pretty good … ranging from easy to tough. Parking is horrendous! If you don’t get here early you will spend 1 hr searching for parking! And I mean early like 7/8 am Food is very expensive! Suggestion is have a large breakfast… skip lunch and do a large dinner. But be dry clean and we enjoyed the experience! If you want classes book As soon as you get there! Also rent the equipment from outside we used black tie ski rental. They were good and came to our hotel and fitted us.

Drove from middle TN for a single day of skiing the sunday before presidents day. We had an OK experience a couple of years ago and it was good enough that we decided to try it again, boy was it a mistake. This resort was probably 1000% oversold. We got to the parking lot before 9am and the lines to pick up rentals were 60 deep and took the better part of 45 minutes, no lockers and complete pandemonium with unmarked lines and nobody assisting people. Luckily we bought our passes online and so we used the machines to get our physical cards. First run of the day we waited 25+ minutes for a quad chair where traffic was flowing from both sides of the lift with NOBODY ushering people, it was complete chaos. The runs were extremely busy, so much so that my kids felt uncomfortable making their way down due to skiers and snowboarders buzzing them from top to bottom. The wait for the second chair of the day took 35 minutes+ with the same chaos. We got back down to the lodge area and saw that the line for one of the lifts was actually spanning the ENTIRE breadth of the mountain horizontally. At that point, we decided to pack it in for the day, returned gear and drove all the way home. Quite frankly it was a complete waste of $600 for basically 3 hours in hell. Beech Mountain management, this is no way to run a resort and you've lost a customer for good. Do the right think and limit the capacity on the mountain otherwise you'll get customers once but never the same customer again.

I wouldn’t recommend for those new to skiing or snowboarding. It’s very unorganized and there is no direction. The lady helping at the ticket booth was nice. We got there around 3pm and asked about lessons, they were already sold out for the day and she told us that our best bet would be to just figure it out on the “playground” area. The playground area is tiny, Not a lot of space to “figure it out”. The rental boots and board we got were in horrible shape and my feet were soaked by the end of the 2.5 hours we were there. When returning the equipment, it was just a mess of people throwing the boards wherever and leaving. The locker area is tiny so don’t expect to get a locker. Would not recommend for families either, unless experienced. I would consider coming back if I had my own equipment and was more experienced. We went to sugar mountain the next day, it was cheaper and MUCH more organized. Sugar mountain staff was friendly and helpful.

I had a group of 33 this past Sunday. Everyone in the group sales department was amazing. I did majority of the booking through email which was very nice. I arrived the day before the outing and was able to pick up all of our passes. I highly recommend the lunch vouchers if you are doing a group trip. Everyone we encountered was extremely nice. They gave us plenty of information so everyone knew when to get there to get good parking and miss the rental lines. We all had a great time and look to make this a yearly trip!

We went up for the day just to ski. From the start it was a disaster. The parking lots were chaos, and there was no one directing traffic until after after all of the parking became so disorganized that some cars were taking up 2-3 parking spots because of the snow (that is not a new thing on a ski mountain) obscures the parking space lines. Next the line to pick up our rented ski gear, which we paid for online before our trip, was an hour long wait. We got there at 9 am, when the slopes open, however they were already OUT OF SKI POLES!!!! How is that even possible? If there are enough sets of rental skis and boots how can there not be enough poles? Our beginner level kids had to try to learn to ski WITHOUT POLES. We got there at 9 am, we pre-purchased both the lift tickets and rental gear online and we didn't get out to the slopes until 11:30 because of the crowds, the lines, and the lack of equipment!!! The slopes were beyond busy. The lines to get onto the lifts were in excess of 30+ minute wait times. The runs were so crowded. The lodge was full to the brim at all times. The lines for food wrapped around the interior of the building. There was nowhere to sit. We had to find a spot to stand and eat while we waited for one or two chairs to open up for the four of us to share seats. The bathrooms were disgusting. The ladies room by the locker room has 5 stalls, 1 was out of order and 1 was overflowing. The locker room was packed with people trying to find any available locker, joke was on them, they were completely sold out by 1030 am., with no where to put their stuff. There needs to be a capacity limit for people on the mountain OR make it more efficient. More and clean bathrooms, a larger lodge, more lockers, rental equipment that is available to you when you've already paid for it. This trip was beyond disappointing it was a complete disaster. We were there from 9-5, we got 5 runs on the hills. FIVE. The website needs to list historically busiest days and times. It's obvious that for Beech Mountain skiing, they care more about profits over a well run business that cares about its customers. After spending over $1000 for 4 lift tickets, rental equipment, meals and an overnight stay (not at the resort), it was not just bad, not just terrible, but absolutely unacceptably horrible. Do your research. Try to find out what crowds might be like when you go or you take a risk of having this experience as well.
