Sloss Furnaces National Historic Landmark Concerts

Finally got the chance to briefly visit this piece of American history in early January. Been wanting to bring my camera here for years, and it didn't disappoint. It was a self guided tour and a slow day, so I got the whole place to myself. This vast beautiful fossil of America's industrial boom will require a long leisurely day to capture it right. Luckily there's a nice brewpub across the road from it. It was surprisingly accessible for my elderly dad, though I wouldn't recommend bringing pets or small children as there are many places for them to disappear, fall, or get stuck. Would be a fascinating tour through history and manufacturing for an older kid though.

Sloss is a fascinating place to explore and absorb. I've visited many times. Today we attended Corks & Chefs, part if the Magic City Art Connection festival. The festival was fantastic and we found a few things to buy. There's so much to see at Sloss; it's a great place to walk around and see what was so important to Birmingham's growth and development. It's also a great venue.

So cool!! Definitely would come back to get the guided tour, loved walking around and seeing the history. It wasn’t very busy and was free for the self guided tour. Definitely recommend checking out if you’re in Birmingham!

Definitely one of my favorite places tp visit in Alabama. It's a great historic sight with tons of information to learn, and cool parts of the furnaces to see. Will visit again someday!

I have loved sloss OK furnace since I was a child back in the 80s. We always enjoyed exploring during different events. Today we went to the 41st annual Birmingham art fest and had a wonderful time. I encourage anyone to go to an event there just to see some local history from Birmingham.
