Cobra Lounge Reviews

Super intimate venue. 150 people maybe? Really nice that you can be right at the stage to see the artist. It's nice that there is a bathroom right in front, to the left of the stage. The set up for entry was a little mishmoshed. Definitely needed more attention. But otherwise it was great.

Not sure if she’s with All Rise Taproom or Cobra Lounge, but Winter was incredibly accommodating and flexible when we had a large group arrive at All Rise on a weeknight in several stages while Cobra Lounge was already hosting a big show in the main space. Many thanks for organizing seating and bill-splitting!

I’ve been to Cobra Lounge atleast 25-30 times in the past year and honestly I’ve always had a great experience. I go to a lot of hardcore shows, so as you’d imagine I’m usually dying of thirst after each band. Cobra Lounge almost always provides free cups and water which is amazing - they also sell Liquid Death water too which although pricy, can beat waiting in line for water at sold out shows. The food here is solid. There’s not a ton of options, but everything I’ve had so far has been good. Service, especially when sitting at a table, has always been excellent. If you go to grab a drink at the main/back bar later, it may take a few minutes but the bartenders are almost always quick and friendly. There is parking outside the venue, although I should warn I’ve seen cars get broken into in these spots. The area isn’t bad in terms of walking, so I recommend parking at the Fulton Market Garage (about a 10 minute walk) down the road, which usually costs around $14. The garage is monitored and has elevators, so you know your car will be safe. The 10 minute can be a little sketchy, so if you’re a woman, please be considerate of your surroundings. The sound of the venue is usually pretty solid. I’d say 8/10 shows, the sound is great. The venue is small and there is no seating, which is great for energetic and intense shows. The sound isn’t overly loud, but I’d still recommend earplugs. Overall, Cobra Lounge is my favorite venue in Chicago. The staff, the shows, and the experience are consistent, enjoyable, and exactly what I’d want from an underground spot for smaller artists.

My wife and I came here on 4/7/24 to see Palaye Royale. I was shocked that such a popular band was playing such a small venue, but that was amazing because of how intimate of a setting it is there. Palaye Royale put on an amazing show and had the place jumping off with everyone bouncing around and singing along with every song. The atmosphere was simply electric. The lead singer, Remington, came out into the crowd on numerous occasions, and even crowd surfed and swung from the rafters, which I posted a video of here. Absolutely amazing show! The venue handled it very well, having such a popular band there and having such a rowdy crowd. Nothing got out of hand by any means. The staff and security were friendly and helpful. My only complaint the entire night is that it was sweltering hot in the concert area during the show and this was a short show, only an hour long set from one band and we we're all soaked in sweat by the time it was over. The lead singer even commented how it was the first time that he ever performed a show in a sauna and how he couldn't stop sweating. He even had to step outside numerous times between songs to cool down for a quick minute. I don't know what the issue was with it being so hot there because I've been there in the past for 2 other sold-out shows, and it wasn't hot like that. I would and will definitely come back to this venue and highly recommend it for anyone in the area. Plenty of great food and drink options, and even if it's hot, they'll gladly give you free cups of water, unlike many places. This was the best show I've ever been to there and I'm looking forward to more. I uploaded the entire show on YouTube if anyone would like to watch it for the first time or re-live that night if you were there. https://youtu.be/mNDAcvy82g4?si=MJKsKMjA-MJqV-Mh
