Extending out onto Lake Michigan, Navy Pier offers plenty in the way of family-friendly entertainment. it is located a few blocks east of The Magnificent Mile and is open daily year-round. The first thing you'll spot once you set foot on the pier is the towering Ferris wheel (which stands 196 feet tall). originally opened in 1916 as an amusement area and shipping facility but is now one of Chicago's most popular tourist attractions. I was sitting here facing rough wind coming from Michigan Lake and thinking - is there any place like this that offers this kind of variety... tons of restaurants, a food park, Beer Garden, Ferris wheel, yacht/boat tour, museum, live performance - everything at the same place. Navy Pier offers something to every age group. Once the kids have had their thrill rides, you can spend some time cruising the Chicago River on a sightseeing or speedboat tour or spend a few hours exploring the Chicago Children's Museum. Visitors can also watch a film at the 3D Imax Theater, watch actors perform the classics at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, visit Crystal Gardens, a one-acre, six-story, indoor botanical garden, or enjoy themselves at a variety of shops or grab a drink at the Navy Pier Beer Garden. Be sure to check Navy Pier's website for a list of events: Concerts are often held here, and from Memorial Day to Labor Day (as well as New Year's Eve), Tip: go there on Wednesday and Saturday nights. impressive fireworks displays light up the skies these days. you would definitely appreciate Navy Pier's picturesque water views and Chicago skyline.

I absolutely adored the pier! Despite it not being peak season, strolling along the pier was a delight. The bustling ambiance, with cafes bustling with activity, added to the charm. It's the perfect spot to unwind, take in the scenery, and even embark on a boat ride from the pier. A truly enchanting experience!

Navy Pier is a nice area to walk around. There are some shops and restaurants. I really liked walking along the pier and looking at the city. It wasn't very crowded when I was there but I bet it can be packed on nice days. If you are visiting Chicago and want to go for a walk in the city, Navy Pier is a good place to go.

Go before noon and you'll easily find parking inside the pier. There are plenty of restaurants and shops the closer you get to the museum. Not so much as you go further out towards the hotels at the end of the pier. Lots of boat tour companies located on the south side of the pier, and they're organized well. Great place to take your family or hang out with friends.

This was my first time to Chicago and I have to say that walking the navy Pier was breathtaking. The view over lake Michigan absolutely gorgeous. Seeing all the familys taking photos with the anchor and just enjoying themselves brought a smile to my face. There were so many shops and restaurants to go to and eat at it was hard to choose which one. They allow you to carry your alcohol while on the pier that was pretty cool. When we went they where having a festival with live music. The attractions where not badly priced either I will definitely be going back.
