The Athenaeum offers a casual, amphitheatre style venue for concerts. Hard surface walls and floors create reverb however, so consider bringing earplugs, just in case. Ample parking is available at a covered garage located one short block north of the venue. The Athenaeum is an older building, constructed on or about 1900, and lacks public elevators, so be aware that you'll likely be climbing two or three levels of stairs. If you have mobility issues or if stairs are a barrier for you, contact the staff in advance of your event to see if there are any lift options available to you. Finally, the seating (in the ballroom at least) is designed for the average in 1900: we're bigger today (due to vitamins and more than a few cheeseburgers), so the seats will feel small, hard, and just a wee bit cramped.

We saw They Might Be Giants and were very impressed with the Venue. Even at the back of the theater sitting in the seats, everything was clear. A great view of the band and the slope allowed us to be well above the row in front of us. The staff was friendly and even joked around with us. I will be back to see more shows there.

Had our wedding here in November and it was such a perfect venue. Natasha helped us plan our reception and went above and beyond to make sure our day was perfect. The GRAND BALLROOM is absolutely beautiful and hardly needed any extra decor. Lots of in-house vendors to choose from so minimal stress on our part. We love this place and are so happy that we chose it!

Disappointing experience at this venue for a comedy show. One way in causes a long queue out front. Limited restrooms for the size of facility. Concessions seemed overwhelmed. Chairs in front of fire extinguishers. Ushers not very helpful. Parking is a challenge. Management didn’t bring up the house lights initially at intermission and not at all at the end of the show so people were fumbling their way out of the ‘theater’ space in the dark. This was made worse by the unlit stairs and poorly contrasting paint so step edges were hard to see. Stairwells seemed too small given the occupancy. Another event in the other hall had a band that was audible in the theater space hosting the comedy show. The site has potential but needs some work and better management.
