Have been to many shows and they do it right! Comfortable seating, pleasant volunteers, beverages available, clean restrooms. Not a bad seat in the house, either.

This is a wonderful space to experience the arts! I've seen two shows here since January and regardless of the craft everything has been enjoyable. Yes, due to the acts themselves but I believe in the way the auditorium was built as well. The building is handicap-accessible. There are multiple entry points. And the concession stand has alcohol that you can bring in to the performances so long as you purchase the $3 souvenir cup. This place is so well-organized with ushers everywhere that it's impossible to get lost.

What a treat. Kudos to team that organized the Hamilton show💯 The show was sold out and the venue was all packed but it was pretty easy to get to our seats. The acoustics of the theater are pretty good too. Looking forward to coming back for the amazing line up if shows they have coming up. Be sure to book well in advance though!!!

We saw Funny Girl and had incredible seats in the 5th row center! The play was Broadway quality, including set, acting, singing and dancing. We were very impressed. The Des Moines Civic Center staff were helpful and friendly. We will be back!

The show was amazing. Vocals were outstanding. Unfortunately, comfort of the newer narrower seats made the viewing experience horrible. The armrests were in my side. I had to keep my elbows dig I to my side because the people on each side of me were “sharing” my seat. One was a very large lady who needed two seats, but even if she purchased 2 seats, she couldn’t use them because the arm rest doesn’t move. The other was my husband who has broad athletic shoulders that spilled into my seat. It has taken me a long time to convince him to try the Civic Center, after attending Hamilton and being unable to understand anything from the stage due to flawed sound system. 😢. Hope the shrinking of the seats pays off. I’ll stick with international flights for more comfort.
